NAP Consistency
Search Engine Optimization

What is NAP consistency?

A small thing that quietly kills rankings for home service companies who ignore it.

NAP stands for three things. They have to match exactly everywhere.

N
Name
Your exact business name, every time. “ABC Home Services LLC” is not the same as “ABC Home Services.”
A
Address
Same street, suite, city, state, ZIP. “St” is not the same as “Street.”
P
Phone
One number, formatted the same way. Pick one. Use it everywhere.

Google can’t physically visit you. It verifies you’re real by cross-checking your NAP across the web.

Hundreds of small mismatches add up to one big signal: “This business isn’t legitimate, or isn’t active.” Rankings drop. The map pack passes you over. Your competitors with cleaner data win.

Every place your business is mentioned online.

Do it once. Maintain it forever.

  • 01
    Audit
Run your business through Whitespark, BrightLocal, or a manual sweep. Document every mismatch.
  • 02
    Correct
Start with GBP and your own website. Then work down the directory list, top to bottom.
  • 03
    Lock the format
Pick one exact NAP. Write it down. That’s the only version anyone uses, forever.
  • 04
    Maintain
Every new directory listing uses the locked format. Every business card, invoice, vehicle wrap. Same NAP.
